Academic Accommodations
The Harvard Business Analytics Program welcomes participants of all backgrounds and abilities. Any admitted student with a documented disability is eligible for reasonable accommodations. We work to ensure equivalent access to online and in-person learning experiences. Please email the Accommodations Team with any questions or concerns.
The Americans With Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) defines disability as (1) a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (2) a record (or past history) of such an impairment, or (3) being regarded as having a disability.
Requesting an Accommodation
You are responsible for requesting academic accommodations. You will be required to disclose relevant needs to the Accommodations Team. We are sensitive to the importance of confidentiality and will never disclose information related to your ability status without your permission.
The Accommodations Team follows an interactive, good-faith process to determine reasonable accommodations. We review each documented diagnosis and functional limitation against the academic requirements of a specific course or program.
IMPORTANT: Please be prompt with any request. Last-minute requests can interfere with, or rule out, timely accommodations.
Guidelines for Supporting Documentation
Please review these documentation guidelines before submitting a request:
- Consult a licensed professional with firsthand knowledge of your disability and relevant credentials.
- The documentation you submit should be as current as possible, but must have been completed in the past three years. Certain diagnosed disabilities or requested accommodations need more recent documentation.
- The diagnosing physician should
- give a clear diagnosis of the disability or condition;
- describe functional impact and/or limitations on major life activities;
- recommended accommodations, including the relevance of each; and
- use his or her own letterhead (regardless of signature, we cannot accept a form or template from another institution).
- The documentation must be in English or include a notarized English translation.
Protecting Your Security and Privacy
Please follow these established practices to guard your sensitive information:
- Do NOT include personally identifiable information with your request. For example, never include your Social Security number.
- Do NOT send any medical or supporting records via email. We’ll send instructions for using our Secure File Transfer tool for all file uploads.
